Francis Albert Sinatra was an American jazz singer, he was called “The Entertainer”.

This is my second time to share my favirote his music.

It’s “Luck Be A Lady”, it was composed by Frank Loesser in 1950 and first performed by Robert Alda.

The song was used in the musical “Guys and Dolls” in Broadway, and the 1955 film edition starring Frank Sinatra.

Bill Evans Trio – Beautiful Love (Take 1)

William John Evans was an American jazz pianist and composer.
He had started his career as a musician since 1950s, primarily performed his trio as the leader.

His first album as the trio’s leader “New Jazz Conceptions” was released in 1957.

Now, “Beautiful Love” was recorded their 1961 album “Explorations”.

Take 1 of the song was recorded their re-issued CD album as a bonus track.

Linda Ronstadt – You Took Advantage of Me

Linda Maria Ronstadt is an American singer, she has started her career as a musician since 1965.
She recorded & performed various genre songs, such as rock, pop, country, the Great American songbook, light opera, and latin music.

Her first single “Up to My Neck in High Muddy Water” with the Stone Poneys was released in 1968, peaked #93 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Her first studio album “Linda Ronstadt, Stone Poneys
and Friends, Vol. III” was released in 1968, but it didn’t rank the charts.

Now, “You Took Advantage of Me” was recorded 80s her second jazz album in “Lush Life”, arranged and conducted by Nelson Riddle, peaked #13 on the Billboard Hot 100, awarded Platinum by RIAA.

Nat King Cole – Ramblin’ Rose

Nathaniel Adams Coles known professionally as Nat King Cole, was an American singer, jazz pianist, and actor, he had started his career as a musician 1934.

First, he had started his career as a jazz pianist, after that he had become a solo singer in 1950s.

He released a lot of his albums & singles for a long time.

Now, “Ramblin’ Rose” was released in 1962, reached #2 on the Biilboard Hot 100, topped on the Billboard easy listening chart.

About the Song

“I’ve Got You Under My Skin” was written by Cole Porter in 1936. In the same year, it was performed by Virginia Bruce in the musical film “Born to Dance.” It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song, but did not win.

Sinatra first performed the song on his radio show in 1946. In 1956, it was included in his Capitol Records album Songs for Swingin’ Lovers!, arranged by Nelson Riddle. The album reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200, sold over 500,000 copies in the United States, and topped the UK chart with over 100,000 copies sold.

The song’s arrangement by Nelson Riddle plays a key role in shaping its elegant and dynamic sound. In the mid-1960s, Sinatra and Riddle also performed it on Sinatra’s TV special A Man and His Music. This video features that performance.

About the Artist

Francis Albert Sinatra was an American singer and actor, born in 1915. He began his music career in 1935 and joined the Harry James band as a vocalist.

A few years later, he signed with Columbia Records and began his career as a solo artist. Around 1950, he went through a slump and was eventually dropped by the label.

In 1953, Capitol Records signed him, which marked a major turning point in his career. Around this time, Sinatra met Nelson Riddle, and the two formed a highly successful partnership. Together, they released many acclaimed and influential albums.

Personally, I enjoy listening to Nelson Riddle & His Orchestra and own several of their albums. I also have his arrangement book, Nelson Riddle Arrangement, which reflects my admiration for his work.
