“Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” was written by Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio, and was first recorded by Frankie Valli, the vocalist of The Four Seasons, in 1967.
The song topped the US Cash Box chart.
Why You Should Listen
I heard that, as the vocalist of The Four Seasons, Frankie Valli usually sings in his falsetto voice, but he rarely used it in his solo recordings.
Highlights
• Frankie Valli’s excellent vocal performance without his falsetto voice
• The impressive horn intro
About the Song
“Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” was written by Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio, and was first recorded by Frankie Valli in 1967.
In this song, we can enjoy Frankie Valli’s excellent vocal performance without his signature falsetto voice.
The song reached No. 1 on the US Cash Box Top 100 and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, selling over one million copies.
It also reached No. 2 on the Canada RPM Top Singles chart.
The song was certified Gold in the US and Silver in the UK. However, it was not a major hit in Japan. Instead, the disco cover version by Boys Town Gang became popular there in the 1980s.

Conclusion
This was Frankie Valli’s first major solo hit in the US, although it was not successful in Japan.
Someday, I’d also like to introduce the Boys Town Gang cover version, which became a hit in Japan.
